We first met Dan and Shayna at one of our local Sunshine Coast gigs. They had enquired about booking us for their upcoming wedding but wanted to come see us live. We always love for enquiring brides and grooms to come see us first, in person, so that they can feel at ease knowing that we have got the music for the day covered.
We really liked these guys right away. They were a super nice couple and loved our music, so we were excited to play at their wedding. Shayna mentioned that they had booked in their dream venue in Byron Bay called ‘Byron View Farm’. We had heard great things so we were excited to see what all the hype was about. They booked our ‘Whole Shebang’ package and everything was a go.
There was only one problem...a few days before the wedding, Chelsea and I had both gotten the worst coughs of our lives…
Showtime! The Dream Wedding Begins...
The day of the wedding we drove up the narrow winding road to the top of the hill where Byron View Farm sits. It turns out that the hype surrounding this venue is totally justified - the property and surrounding 360 degree view is jaw-droppingly gorgeous.
But as we began unloading our gear, far from enjoying the beautiful scenery, our minds were occupied elsewhere. We would be singing Shayna down the aisle in less than one hour and neither Chelsea nor I could get out a full sentence without coughing. Suffice it to say we were nervous!
Thankfully, the day before, we had gone to see our doctor out of desperation to see if there was anything he could do for us. We just could NOT be coughing that day! He prescribed a powerful cough suppressant for each of us, which we brought with us along with many many cough lozenges.
As we were finishing setting up and sound checking we both downed our ‘miracle potions’ and popped some lozenges so that we would (hopefully!) be cough-free and ready to go very soon.
Right on time, the guests started arriving on double-decker busses, which was our cue to start singing some romantic chilled songs for our pre-ceremony set. I am almost certain we had a bit more cough suppressant than what was recommended but….it worked!! We sang through our first set and the special ceremony moments without even the tiniest interruption.

Canapés & Reception
After a wonderful ceremony, we transitioned seamlessly into canapes, throwing on some chilled background tunes as we moved our setup to the adjacent lawn for our next set. We played for about 45 minutes while the guests enjoyed cocktails and nibbles as they mingled and posed for photos together on the lawn to the backdrop of the rolling hills and distant seaside of Byron Bay.
After one more quick move, we transitioned to the reception tent to continue playing as the guests seated themselves for dinner and continued dining. The guests seemed pretty reserved until we started to DJ and then we realised everyone was here to PARTY! The funnest part of the night commenced, when the Groom rips his pants from dancing you know it's been a successful night.
